A Chemically Balanced Pool

Why do we need a chemically-balanced pool?

Chemically-balanced pool water extends the life of your pool surface. The benefits are endless when pool water is well treated. It helps to prevent water quality problems. When you don’t have to backwash your pool frequently, this means the reduction of cost and water usage.

Reasons for chlorinating pool

There are many other forms of pool sanitising. We use chlorine as a pool sanitiser to stop the growth of algae, viruses, and bacteria in pool water. A proper chlorine level should be between 3-5 ppm. Any levels lower than 3 ppm will not sanitise the water and thus, bacteria and algae will grow easily. However, when chlorine is over added to the water, this will lead to unpleasant pool water.

Have you ever encountered dry burning eyes after swimming?

This is due to unbalanced pH levels of the pool water. Generally, pool sanitising and chemical balancing are both equally important for pool maintenance. As mentioned in our earlier post, pool water is healthy in the range of 7.2 – 7.8 to match the pH level of our body. When the pH level is higher than 7.8, it can cause skin rashes and red eyes.

Besides that, the pool water can become cloudy when pH is high. This is because high pH runs a risk with the chlorine, as chlorine will no longer disinfect effectively. In other words, the pH is not directly associated with cloudiness in the water. However, it affects how chlorine and other chemicals work in your water. A properly maintained pool should always be clean and clear.

How does the FPNP team make your pool chemically-balanced?

It is fundamental to know pool chemicals when it comes to pool maintenance. FPNP team is well trained in monitoring pool chemicals. We keep total alkalinity (80-120 ppm), pH, chlorine and calcium hardness (200-400ppm) within proper levels. These are basic components in water balancing and to help the sanitiser work more effectively. In turn, swimmers would be able to enjoy swimming in a clean pool.

Chemical balancing the pool also applies to all public pools including those located within Sport Singapore complexes, condominiums, hotels, clubs, and educational institutions. We ensure the pool water quality fulfil the requirements as required by NEA water quality.
