Why Pool Servicing is a Weekly Thing

Weekly Pool Maintenance Service

When people ask us how often they should get their pools cleaned, what they do not realise is that a multitude of factors go into determining this. Servicing pools is not an easy task, and pool owners sometimes forget that owning a pool is a huge responsibility

In this article, let us take you through why servicing your pool weekly is so important, and how we do it here at FPNP. Who knows? You might reconsider having your pool cleaned every week after reading this!

Maintaining Healthy PH Levels With Servicing

There is a broad range of pool maintenance services available. The frequency of servicing vary from daily to monthly and seasonally. However, considering how it is summer all year round in Singapore, pool servicing should be done no matter the season.

Ultimately, the task is to maintain a good level of PH for your swimming pool water. A well-monitored and maintained pool would have clean and healthy water that allows its users to swim with a peace of mind. With proper PH balance, your pool filter, pumps and other equipment can also be protected from potential damage.

Why Servicing Your Pool Should Be Done Weekly

To begin, several factors affect the PH levels of your pool water. The main factors revolve around frequency of pool usage, rainfall and temperatures.

The more often your pool is used, the more likely that PH levels will be disrupted. This is due to the increased amount of bodily fluids (e.g. sweat and tan lotion) mixing with pool disinfectants (e.g. chlorine).

Rainfall also affects the PH levels of pool water, as rainwater has a lower PH than pool water. Hence, the PH levels of pool water usually decrease after a rainfall and you’d need servicing to bring it back up.

Lastly, temperature fluctuations are bound to distort the PH levels of pool water as well. When the weather is too hot and temperature rises, excess heat can lower the PH of pool water.

Considering how Singapore enjoys tropical and humid weather all year, it is no doubt that pool servicing weekly to check the water’s PH levels is so crucial.

How the FPNP Team Maintains Your Pool

The first thing that we do whenever we reach the pool is to remove debris, leaves and other objects from the pool. Our team will skim the pool net over the water’s surface, and pick up the debris. Afterwards, we usually clear the pool skimmers of dirt and other objects that should not remain in the waters.

Next, we empty the pool strainer baskets to ensure smooth water circulation. Using a pool wall brush, our staff will scrub the interior walls of your pool along the parameters. This helps to brush away any possible dirt that may have been stuck on the walls and in the creases.

If you miss these steps even for a week, small pieces of dirt might build up over time which can make your swimming pool challenging to clean in the future.

How We Keep Pools Chemically Balanced

To check that the chlorine and PH levels are kept within the appropriate ranges, we use a water testing kit. The ideal and proper PH level of pool water is between 7.2 and 7.6. If you have been using the swimming pool frequently, or the weather has been very hot, your water should be tested more regularly. If your pool water looks cloudy, the chlorine levels are probably too low. Thankfully, the FPNP team knows how to manage this and can remove the cloudiness from your pool before you know it!

We also clean your standard water filtration regularly. With good filtration, the system can keep out dirt and other particles from the water.

Lastly, we activate our pool vacuum to clean the pool tiles if necessary. We clean the pool’s surfaces, stairs and walls, keeping the water free of dirt and dust particles.

Size Doesn’t Matter in Pool Servicing

To clarify, every pool requires maintenance, big or small. The size of your pool does not dictate how long chemicals will last in the pool water or how often it should be serviced. In fact, small pools can easily become dirtier than their larger counterparts if they are not well taken care of.

Keeping pool water clean is often not a habit owners have, and people forget how dirty their pools can become. This is especially so because the pool water might still look crystal clear, though we cannot assume that a clear pool is a clean pool. Dirty swimming pools can result in infections, skin irritations and other spreadable water-borne illnesses.

That being said, the aforementioned factors should not stop you from enjoying swimming. Pool maintenance and servicing is still a manageable habit when done consistently. Of course, if you find cleaning the pool yourself a chore that you cannot commit to, you can let the experts do it for you too!
